With reference to my letter of the & not ultimo, I am directed by the Earl of Clarendon to transmit to you a copy of a letter from the Board of Trade on the subject of Chinese labour Emigration, together with a copy of the Law Officer's opinion on the suggestions contained in that letter; and I am requested that you will move His Grace to take these papers into consideration at his earliest convenience, and to favour Lord Clarendon with his opinion thereupon.
